A major importer and supplier of high end fashion accessories directed that a newly purchased 30 year old Ndabeni factory (2400m²) and offices (500m²) be updated and redesigned to accommodate their current and future needs. The brief was to combine an appropriately “upmarket and contemporary” image with a natural and comfortable feeling office environment while maximizing the existing structure and replanning the production areas all within a very tight budget.
The offices comprise both limewashed exposed timber trussed open plan and flush ceilinged cellular offices as well as a number of adaptable and flexible ‘showroom’ and boardroom spaces which can accommodate a variety of formats for presentation of their extensive range of products to various groups of Clients. Extensive use of sandstone, dark stained timber and sandblasted glass set the tone for a natural feel while views and light into offices and showrooms are maximized in keeping with our philosophy of creating a responsive architecture.
The project was complete for occupation over a very tight four month project time period thanks to excellent teamwork and was within 5% of the budget allowed. |
