Cape Quarter Living
The penthouse floor of a newly constructed building (Cape Quarter ) in De Waterkant was redesigned from the originally planned offices into 14 upmarket and very contemporary short let apartments targeted at the corporate business and foreign family tourist market. The brief was to create a unique and stylish destination within the exciting peri-urban setting of the historically significant De Waterkant area. A central timber decked leisure roof deck zone was created complete with pool and roof garden putting green which serves as the communal outdoor space for the apartments.
The apartments range from one bedroomed 42m² m units to spacious 83m² two bedroomed units and each apartment enjoys spectacular views from Table mountain to Table bay . The apartments were designed to reflect a chic and modernist lifestyle and as such the bathrooms were innovatively planned with glazed and open plan elements to form an integral visual part of the sleeping areas. The materials used include bamboo flooring and cladding as well as innovative use of large scale graphic images as wall treatment to offset the custom designed furniture and fittings. With a total design and interior fitting and furnishing fit out service provided ( in association with Metropolis) the project was delivered on time within a very tight programme . The letting of these holiday apartments has been very successful and occupancy has been over 80% which is, we believe, a reflection of the overall success of the design. |
